Scroll Finance is a marketplace for homeowners and landlords to access fast, flexible and convenient financing solutions for their essential needs.
Since its creation in 2021 this startup has grown from 2 to 15 people. Today their goal is to build their own tech team in India, starting with the Lead engineer.
In this very strategic role you will have a number responsibilities, such as:
You will deliver a cloud architecture consistent with common industry practice and influence the adoption of new technology where appropriate. You will ensure the communication of, and adherence to, relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices.
You will set the performance and reliability targets for a business critical platform, ensuring high availability of service. You will work with engineers to ensure that the right processes are in place to maintain these high service levels.
Programming and Build
You will enable your engineering team to follow the most suitable development and engineering practices, ensuring that technical investments are represented effectively at board and executive level.
You will be ultimately responsible for all elements of information security, across both the platform and business technology (such as laptops, cloud application security and identity management). You will be responsible for working with investors on due diligence and with regulators on compliance issues.
You will work closely with the Senior Executives and contribute to the overall company strategy and represent engineering to the Founders and Investors. You work closely with the Product team to deliver on the Product roadmap.
You will be responsible for building and scaling the engineering team; with both permanent direct reports and with external development partners. You will lead the recruitment and career development of your team members, identify skills gaps and key dependencies within the team and augment with near and off-shore development partners where appropriate. You will ensure a smooth transition from external development firms to an in-house development team.

You have worked as a software engineer / architect for 5 or more years and have a solid understanding of how complex business solutions are designed.
You are comfortable making strategic technical decisions that will impact the way the business will work within the next few years.
Java / Spring
Cloud providers (AWS or others), cloud-native databases, and data warehouses
You have a good understanding of DevOps.
Core banking (Mambu)
Credit APIs (several)
Other related tech integrations (like Postman, Auth0, Sendgrid, etc.).
Mobile development for iOs / Android (the client is planning to develop a mobile application)
A first experience in leading and mentoring a team
You live in Bangalore or another major Indian city or are willing to relocate there. Please note that our client cannot offer Visa sponsorship which is why you should have either Indian citizenship or a valid work permit for India.
